"I have been young and am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, or his seed begging bread." Psalms 37:25
What Does The Bible Say about the elderly
The Scriptures talk of old age as being a "honor" (Proverbs 20:29), and that we are to honor the elderly (Leviticus 19:32). Godfs judgment was visited upon Israel by an evil nation in Deuteronomy 28:50 and Isaiah 47:6, and one of the characteristics of these evil nations were they "..will not regard the person of the aged,..." and they made the "...yoke on the aged very heavy." Job 12:12 says, "With the aged is wisdom, and understanding is in the length of days." Psalms 92:13-15 says, "Those planted in the house of Jehovah, in the courts of our God, shall flourish. 14 They shall bear fruit in old age; they shall be fat and fresh, 15 to declare that Jehovah is upright, my Rock! And in Him is no evil."
